Ms. Melinda Johnson (Kindergarten Teacher) |

My name is Michelle Bennett and I have the privilege
of being the Pre-School teacher at LVCS. Our pre-school program is unique
in that you can enroll your 3-4 year old child and remain in the same
public school system through the 8th grade.
It is my goal to prepare my students with the skills
and confidence they will need as t hey transition to kindergarten and
beyond. We accomplish this by having fun learning within a structured
curriculum designed just for them. I model my classroom and daily
activities to the same standards as the K-8 program. This cannot be
accomplished in a daycare environment.
I love my job, I love my students and I love my
school. My husband Rick and I have been married almost 30 years and his
family has been a part of the Pedee/Bridgeport schools since the 1940’s.
Our three boys have all gone to school here; the youngest is now in 3rd
grade. I believe the “family” atmosphere is one of LVCS’s strongest
features.
I enjoy painting; gardening and helping my family
take care of our little farm.
I encourage everyone to come out and visit our
classroom and our school. It’s worth the trip!!

Ms. Leslie Ellis ( 2nd Grade Teacher) |

My name is Cecilia Chavez and this will be my 5th
year at LVCS 4 years as the kindergarten teacher and this year first
grade. This year I have
the pleasure of working towards my reading endorsement. I am very
fortunate to be part of such a fantastic school, I couldn’t think of
being anywhere else! There are so many activities and projects that I have
planned this year. One of the best things about being in a small school is
not only the working with a great staff
but the family atmosphere. I
look forward to getting to know each of the students and their families.
I am originally from California and at times miss the
sun. J
I moved about 9 years ago and attended Willamette University. After
receiving my bachelors I decided to stay in school and received my masters
at Willamette M.A.T program. What can I say, I liked the school!
Soon after I applied for a teacher job at LVCS. It was a pleasant
surprise to find Mrs. Austin teaching right next door as we had both
attended the M.A.T program together.
My goal is to instill a love of reading in every
student and turn them into a life-long learner.
I believe that in order to be successful each student needs to have
a solid foundation in all the core subjects but also have fun during the
process.
I encourage everyone to come visit the classroom;
at times we can be noisy, messy and just plain kooky. But, learning will
always be taking place! J

My
name is Elaine Austin and this is my fourth year at Bridgeport Elementary.
I
am a non-traditional teacher. I
had attended college many years ago, but did not finish my degree until
all of my children were grown and on their own. I returned to school (
Western
Oregon
University
) and completed my bachelor’s degree in 2004.
The following year I entered
Willamette
University
and received my Masters in Education, in the same class as Ms. Chavez.
I
have thoroughly enjoyed the past few years with my 3rd and 4th
graders. They are a lively and engaging group of children who get excited
about learning.
As
we have diligently worked to bring our country school into the 21st
century, we have realized that we have the best of both worlds.
We are surrounded by our lovely, quiet woods, but have nearly every
amenity that is offered in city schools.
When
I’m not in my classroom, you will undoubtedly find me playing on the
floor with Sophie, Cole, Andrew, and Tori – four of my grandchildren who
live nearby. Ava lives in
Texas
while Noah and Javan are in
North Carolina
, so visits with them are less frequent though greatly cherished.
We
are excited with the growth that we have seen this year and know that as
our reputation grows, so will the number of students who call Luckiamute
“home!” |

| Mrs. Kuust (5th and 6th Grade Teacher) |
Mr. Randy Fellows (6th, 7th and 8th Grade Teacher) |
|
As the 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Teacher here at Pedee School, my
goal is to start the new year with a great attitude both for staff and
students alike. I have been a public school teacher for three years having
experience teaching Science, my major focus area at Gaston Jr./Sr. High
School and continuing here with Luckiamute Valley Charter Schools. I will
be teaching science to all students from 5th grade through 8th Grade and
hope to instill a love for science in all my students. We will be
conducting much of our lab work outdoors in the coming year giving the
students some practical hands-on science.
My earlier background is from over 20 years of service in the United
States Navy and being a youth athletics coach for much of my adult life.
My main philosophy for education is that all students deserve a great
education and I try not to let anything get in my way of providing that to
my students. I want my students to feel safe, engaged and to feel they can
succeed.
Hope to see you at Pedee
